Caritas together with the poor against the spread of coronavirus across the globe

Since the beginning of the pandemic in early 2020, Caritas Internationalis has been at the frontline in responding to the COVID-19 tragedy.

Through the 162 Caritas member organisations, millions of people are receiving food, soap, masks, disinfectants and have been briefed on how to avoid contagion. We are working to ensure everyone’s basic rights are protected – such as the right to food, to health, to protection and to information.

But as COVID-19 continues to spread to many countries around the world and while the economic consequences of the pandemic are becoming more serious, the number of people who need help is growing dramatically.

And in order to help them, we need your support.

Our global response on COVID-19

Handwashing is key to preventing the spread of the pandemic. We enable people to stay clean and safe by providing them with soaps, gels and cleaning products.

Ensuring people don’t go hungry by providing a food basket so they stay strong enough to fight the virus.

We empower people with information to protect themselves. We do this by visiting areas where people may not have access to correct and comprehensive information to protect themselves.

Our staff are working side by side with people with in communities or in health facilities. We provide staff with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure they keep themselves and those they serve.

“…We can believe in the love of the people we have around us, and there we can find hope”
– Pope Francis on COVID-19
