Caritas Kazakhstan was founded in 1997 in response to the rise of poverty after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Its initiatives included soup kitchens across the country, orphanages and centers for homeless people. Caritas Kazakhstan’s head office is located in Almaty; it unites 4 Dioceses with their respective regional organizations.

Nowadays Caritas Kazakhstan holds several successful Projects like Support for Parents of Children with Down Syndrome (it consists the Day Care Centre for Children with DS in Almaty, online consultation for parents from all over the country and even from abroad, vocational training for adolescents, with the aim of their employment, etc.). The Project is spreading across the country to make the Inclusive Society come true.

The Take Back Project goes in tandem with Inditex Corporation where people can bring their being in use clothes to the brand shops in large shopping centers in big cities of Kazakhstan. The idea of the project was based on two global problems of our reality, such as – helping those in need and saving the environment. Thanks to caring citizens, employees of ZARA, Pull & Bear, Bershka and volunteers, many things have got a second life, reducing the needs of those in need and reducing the number of landfills that pollute the environment!

Among the active projects of the organization are also the Repatriate Support Project, which is being held in close collaboration with European Association, the Development of Agricultural Projects to ensure material independence, Environmental projects, etc.

Working closely with Caritas Internationalis and Caritas Asia – Caritas Kazakhstan tries to use the experience of these high qualified professionals and make its own activity more productive.
